Although this blog started out as a daily update on Chris Johnson's heart surgery, I am using it now to post about the happenings in my life since Chris died. You can email me at mjmj57@bellsouth.net.

We walked in to see Chris at 9 am and he was sitting up in a chair. He had been up in the chair for about 1.5 hrs. He has been drinking the fluids they will allow him (he is being restricted somewhat) and tried some toast and eggs this morning. His nurse, Joan, said the doctors want to take the neck lines out today-Hooray! Sitting up in the chair wore Chris out-we stopped in just a few minutes ago-he was sound asleep. We will see him at lunch time. Have a good day-we plan on having one. Mary Jo

So glad to here about Chris's progress. I read your comments every day and from what you write, Chris is just doing great. Thanksgiving and Christmas will be very special for your family this year. Take care and tell Chris "Hello" for me.

It is so great reading the progress every day. Keeps everything in perspective! Each day he will get a little stronger - just think how great he will be this time next week, next month, next year... Tell him I'm thinking about him.

Mary Jo, Chris, and Carolyn,
What fabulous news! I am glad that Chris is up and in the chair. I talked with Helen Duncan last night and all Duncans are well and as crazy as can be--
Take care of yourselves.
Love,
Carmen Ann
That is so amazing. I would have thought he might make it a half hour at most before getting tired of the chair. 1.5 hours plus is so great. In no time he'll be walking and then you'll have your work cut out for you and Mrs. Johnson, just think of how you two will have to keep up with him.... As always in our thoughts and prayers.
Wow! What wonderful news we've been reading about Chris! Love reading about his progress.
Can't wait until you guys are home. Clancy and Patches had a quiet Halloween -- the boys actually remembered to put them in the house before the trick-or-treaters arrived.
Hello to Chris ---
