Although this blog started out as a daily update on Chris Johnson's heart surgery, I am using it now to post about the happenings in my life since Chris died. You can email me at mjmj57@bellsouth.net.

We have had a roller coaster of day! Dr. Wan (from Dr. Puga's service) has spent the day in Chris's room. Chris's numbers have been all over the board, but are stable now. They removed a lot of blood and fluid from his chest- about 2 liters . His nose was still bleeding even after they put him back on the vent-they finally stopped the blood thinner so that bleeding should be under control. We saw Chris first thing this morning and not again until almost 3pm. It was good to see him. After we saw him this afternoon, Carolyn and I went to get a bite to eat-while we were gone he awakened-the nurse explained all that had gone on during the day, had Chris move his arms and legs and then asked if wanted to go back to sleep (yes!) So. . .he is being kept sedated and comfortable. Much of the machines and drips he is on are the same as when he came out of surgery so it is like we are back to square one, except he has had some time for his incisions to heal and such. Thank you for your Thoughts and Prayers-please keep sending them this way. Mary Jo

Oh I was so hoping for better news today. But as you said, 3 steps forward and 1 step back, lets hope this is just a minor (1/2step) step back. I'm so glad you and Mrs. Johnson got a chance to have some additional down time on your side trip. I hope things go better tonight and into the next few days. As always, you all are in our thoughts and prayers
MJ&Carolyn, I have alerted class memebers and church members of the recent set-back to make sure the prayers were still going up for Chris, as well as the two of you and the girls. Just know we are care and are with you in spirit, since we can't be there in person. Anne
We are sorry to hear that Chris had a set back, but are hoping for better news over the weekend. We have been saying prayers for him every day and are keeping all of you in our thoughts.
Here's to a MUCH better tomorrow!
Love,
Kelly, Pete, Bridget & Caitlyn
