Although this blog started out as a daily update on Chris Johnson's heart surgery, I am using it now to post about the happenings in my life since Chris died. You can email me at mjmj57@bellsouth.net.

Chris has done well today. He has been up in the chair twice so far-the nurse wants him up again-Chris says no-we will see who wins. Physical Therapy came and had Chris standing up for a little bit. Sitting up, standing and just every day activity has really worn him out. He has had a little bit to eat-he tried Boost pudding and some Ensure-neither one appealed to him. When I left him at 5:00 he was asking for orange sherbet-it is on order. Hopefully he will eat some of his dinner. We talked to Dr. Puga, surgeon, he is pleased with Chris's progress. Tomorrow they will do an echo cardiogram to check the pressures in his lungs-then they will make decisions about the Flolan-if they are going make any changes. Each day is a little better than the day before-Chris is improving step by step. I'll post again tomorrow. Mary Jo

the news of your progress Chris is truly wonderful-maybe you & I can run in a Richmond Marathon pretty soon-They will take Will into the OR friday and unwrap his little finger-sure pray that it is good news-Suzanna will have outpatient surgery next Monday on a strange kind of cyst-We did trick or treat in Fredricksburg last night-They have a million kids in their neighborhood-love to all of you and hang in there-love Bill &Jenny
Just being able to eat solid food is a big plus hopefully his appetite will branch out from orange sherbert and yougart to some other more substantial foods and he'll have more strength and energy to keep up the hard road to recovery. It truly is remarkable how far he has come so far, and he seems to be well on that road so keep it up and we'll have you all back in KY before you know it. As always, in our thoughts and prayers.
We missed a day and Chris is upright and eating - he truly is remarkable. Mmmm...orange sherbet -that beats swabs and an ng tube any day. We are so very grateful for your many blessings. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings.

Hi Johnson's,
We are praying for continued improvement. May God strengthen Chris. We are with you in spirit.
Love to all,
The Bures
What a difference a day can make! We are so glad Chris continues to make progress. He must enjoy having any kind of food. Tell him to drink those Ensures -- they will help him get stronger. I hope you and Carolyn brought your parkas. It must be freezing n Rochester, because it is so cold here in Illinois. Stay warm!

Eating and geting the central (neck ) lines out will really speed his recovery....now to have PT help get his strength back. I am thinking about all of you...
