Well they took Chris back for his surgery at 7:52. He was in great spirits during pre-op, cracking his usual corny jokes. As they were getting Chris situated on the gurney, he said he wante HBO tuned in on the heart monitor-he did not like the channel they had it on(the monitor was blank!!!) he was not hooked up yet. Always the comedian. The computer here in the waiting room was free so I took a chance to do an update. MJ

Mary Jo, thanks for the update. I can't blame him those blank monitors are not the best things to watch and at least HBO would be entertaining and might keep his mind off all they will be doing.... Glad he is in good spirits and we'll keep him in our thoughts and prayers as things begin.

Thanks for the information MaryJo! We'll be looking out for updates all day.

The Iowa McKenna's are keeping Chris in our prayers. Our thoughts are with you, at Mayo - God bless.

We are also looking forward to a wonderfully positive update, once everything is completed.

I wanted to let you know that my thoughts & prayers are with all of you today. Chris seemed to be in the right frame of mind for surgery. That's great!

The text message was received--but I'm still pondering how to send one.

Take care--kbj

All of you have been in my constant thoughts this morning. I worked in the office at church while the secretary went to a dr. Appt. Was telling Bob Fox about this site and he wanted me to send it to him, so I did so. Couldn't wait until I got home to see if there was an update after you left the rooom this morning. My prayer has been that God is close to your side this day and the ones to come. Anne

It's strange. Having been in his position, it's amazing at how calm and joking one can become before the surgery. I know in my case, it's how I deal with stress (and I'm sure the juice they give you to relax helps a bit. It's a shame they don't give that stuff to all the friends and family too).

Anyhow, keep us updated. Wishing for all the best.
