Although this blog started out as a daily update on Chris Johnson's heart surgery, I am using it now to post about the happenings in my life since Chris died. You can email me at mjmj57@bellsouth.net.

We have had an emotional few days. Over four hundred friends and family came to the funeral home on Sunday for the visitation and to the funeral on Monday. What a testament to Chris. Family came in from Illinois, Iowa, Virginia, and Tennessee and some of brothers of Delta Chi and other friends travelled from Iowa, Ohio and Indiana to help celebrate Chris's life. I know Chris would have been pleased with the Knights Templar standing guard at the funeral home, with the Masonic ceremony at graveside as well as the Delta Chi graveside ceremony. Chris and I had talked in the past about music we liked, so I know that the music played by Charlotte, and sung by Debbie and the congregation would have pleased him as well. Steve, Vicky and Scott said such wonderful things about Chris and his life that Chris would have been honored but would humbly say that he did not do anything special, he just did what he liked to do and that he did not do any of it alone. Chris was a wonderful man and a friend to many. I know I am a better person from living life with Chris. He was a great husband and father and my best friend. I will miss him. Mary Jo

Dear Mary Jo and girls Uncle Ted and I are so sad for you and everbody, Chris was a great guy, and you were so good to him, just a real Caregiver. He is finally resting now and in peace with God, may you now find time for yourself and the girls, I know he will be missed deeply AND all that could help him live, it just got worn out.We will keep you in our prayers, Love, Unc and Auntie Elsa
I didn't know Chris well, but I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple times between Conventions and visiting the Kentucky Colony as a Leadership Consultant. It wasn't difficult, however, to see how special he was and how dedicated to Delta Chi he was. I was very sad to hear about his passing and will not soon forget him. Memories of how dedicated he was to the values of Delta Chi will motivate me to be a better man and Delta Chi forever.

Mary Jo, I will keep you & your family in my prayers. I enjoyed very much working with Chris when we started Charitable Gaming. He was always an inspiration & a great friend. He could talk about anything with anyone. I truly wish we had kept in touch more over the years. God Bless.
Mary Jo, Mrs. Johnson, Allison and Emily:
I've put off adding a comment to the blog not from not wanting but waiting for something to come to me to express how sorry I am for Chris' passing. I'm sure you know how much Chris meant to me and maybe you know how each of you mean to me. But I just wish there was something to say that would make it easier. I will always remember how much he loved you individually and collectively, he never said it, but it always showed with each time he said your names and how he lit up talking about what was going on with you all.
My time with Chris will be cherished memories and times I will always smile when I think of him. He was a great friend, great Brother, great Mentor and best of all a great Man. I like so many others were honored to be in his company and I will miss him but will never be far from him in my heart and memories. God rest him and his good soul and may you take comfort in knowing he is with all those who went before him and is now at rest in thier arms.
